Ron Paul’s Shocking Message To The Tea Party
Posted on August 28, 2010 at 6:30 pm.

Ron Paul has some surprising news for the Tea Party:

You’re being taken for a ride.

At least this is what many libertarians like Ron Paul believe when they see someone like Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin trying to lead the Tea Party at the “restoring honor” rally this weekend. In fact, Ron Paul believes, if you’re looking for real freedom, you should really go back to the core of the constitution and the bill of rights, which Beck and Palin do not fully endorse when you really look at their beliefs. Whether it be Palin’s support for starting more wars or Beck’s beliefs on paying the private Federal Reserve MORE interest on our money by means of a VAT tax.

Ron Paul believes in neither of the above.

Here was Ron Paul’s message to the Tea Party via The New York Times just the other day:

“As many frustrated Americans who have joined the Tea Party realize, we cannot stand against big government at home while supporting it abroad. We cannot talk about fiscal responsibility while spending trillions on occupying and bullying the rest of the world. We cannot talk about the budget deficit and spiraling domestic spending without looking at the costs of maintaining an American empire of more than 700 military bases in more than 120 foreign countries. We cannot pat ourselves on the back for cutting a few thousand dollars from a nature preserve or an inner-city swimming pool at home while turning a blind eye to a Pentagon budget that nearly equals those of the rest of the world combined.”

While the Tea Party will be out supporting Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin this weekend, you wonder how many of them will be in full support of more wars and paying more interest to a group of untouchable and unauditable private bankers otherwise known as the FED? This is precisely what Ron Paul is asking the American public to consider when looking at the Tea Party leaders and see if they really stand for what they believe in.

Ron Paul believes the Tea Party is not about “left” or “right” like a lot of political pundits make it out to be. It’s about the constitution, and limited government.

I've said for a long time that the REAL tea parties have been co-opted by neocons, and I was right! Evil or Very Mad

By the way...where the hell is that "Ron Paul had nothing to do with starting the tea parties!" revisionist Solo? I'd love to shove this video and a calendar with December 16th, 2007 circled in red up his rear end!: pirat

You'll get over it....

You're right however. Though this can't be discussed at many "conservative" sites, the Tea Party indeed has been co-opted. This fact cannot be discussed because so many have put so much faith in the Tea Party. Who can blame them? To most, the question is: Where else to turn?

First off, most Tea Party members are completely stuck in the liberal/conservative paradigm at best, and perhaps in the Dem/Rep paradigm at worst. Getting out of those paradigms is Step One in understanding American politics.

Next, neocons and Republicans took quick note of the political possibilities of the grassroots effort and immediately began "infiltrating" it. For the Tea Party to be successful, it had to keep a respectable distance from the GOP. Unfortunately, but understandably, the odds of that happening were low from the outset as many of those attracted to the Tea Party were Republicans, garden-variety Republicans, who never took Step One.

Next, the GOP leadership cast a harsh eye on the Tea Party, along with the Dem establishment. Yep, the two were almost unanimous in deriding the Tea Party.

But not entirely, because certain pols, Palin being the most obvious, began to be identified with the Tea Party. Palin, the sad story of the "true maverick" who very slowly "went the other way." We've watched it happen.

And, along with Palin's slow slide so the Tea Party slid. Now, imo, the Tea Party is identified with the GOP, the "lovable, nutty fringe" of the GOP to be sure, but the GOP.

And Paul, in all this process, has stayed true, continues "on message," but to the majority (I'm guessing) of Tea Party members, he's a whacko.

Mission accomplished.

I agree with everything said so far.

As for Paul being a whacko....perhaps. But if he runs, I predict he'll do pretty well....enough to drive the debate, but no way in hell will he get the nomination.

Who else in Congress speaks truth to power? Around 100,000 private military "contractors" are in Iraq. Obama has called for doubling this number.

Iraq: An end or an escalation?

By Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) - 08/30/10 02:32 PM ET

Amid much fanfare last week, the last supposed “combat” troops left Iraq as the administration touted the beginning of the end of the Iraq War and a change in the role of the United States in that country.

Considering the continued public frustration with the war effort and with the growing laundry list of broken promises, this was merely another one of the administration’s operations in political maneuvering and semantics in order to convince an increasingly war-weary public that the Iraq War is at last ending. However, military officials confirm that we are committed to intervention in that country for years to come and our operations have in fact changed minimally, if really at all.

After eight long draining years, I have to wonder if our government even understands what it is to end a war anymore. The end of a war to most people means all the troops come home out of harm’s way. It means we stop killing people and getting killed. It means we stop sending troops and armed personnel over and draining our treasury for military operations in that foreign land but much like the infamous “mission accomplished” moment of the last administration, this “end” of the war also means none of those things.

50,000 US troops remain in Iraq and they are still receiving combat pay. One soldier was killed in Basra just last Sunday after the supposed end of combat operations and the same day 5,000 men and women of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood were deployed to Iraq. Their mission will be anything but desk duty. Among other things they will accompany the Iraqi military on dangerous patrols, continue to be involved in the hunt for terrorists and provide air support for the Iraqi military. They should be receiving combat pay because they will be serving a combat role!

Of course the number of private contractors, who perform many of the same roles as troops but for a lot more money, is expected to double so this is a funny way of ending combat operations in Iraq. We are still meddling in their affairs and we are still putting our men and women in danger and we are still spending money we don’t have. This looks more like an escalation than a draw-down to me!

The ongoing war in Iraq takes place against a backdrop of economic crisis at home as fresh numbers indicate that our economic situation is as bad as ever and getting worse! Our foreign policy is based on an illusion: that we are actually paying for it. What we are doing is borrowing and printing the money to maintain our presence overseas. Americans are seeing the cost of this irresponsible approach as our economic decline continues. Unemployed Americans have been questioning a policy that ships hundreds of billions of dollars overseas while their own communities crumble and their frustration is growing. An end to this type of foreign policy is way overdue.

A return to the traditional American foreign policy of active private engagement and non-interventionism is the only alternative that can restore our moral and fiscal health.

As usual Paul has it exactly right.

But, since when is our leadership interested in moral and fiscal health? They're getting theirs.....nuff said.
