My Computer is Broken
For the past week, I've gotten the Blue Screen of Death repeatedly. I've tried every know system check I know and even rolled it back to a previous back up. Still getting the blue screen.
Looks like I'm going to have to pay for hardware replacements.

Re: My Computer is Broken
I build my computers from individual parts. I never buy computers that I can't disassemble and reassemble myself.
A laptop is the exception, but even the non-Mac variety can be disassembled and reassembled.

That's how my oldest son is.....he says Macs are for hippies and communists. He cobbles together PC's and makes them run on Linux, says it's better than MacOS.
That sort of thing appeals to me, but I simply don't have the time, so I've gotten more and more MAC oriented.

Re: My Computer is Broken
Well, I've had two different people look at it and I don't think they did a good job. That's about 170 dollars I can't get back. Seriously, who doesn't run virus scans and hard drive scans?
Anyway, I just bought a copy of Windows 7 because my Vista DVD didn't seem to be working. When I tried to install it, I still got the same errors. So now, I'm probably going to have to buy new memory, motherboard, processor, and graphics card. I'll probably get a new case as well since the power supply may be bad.
The hard drives and DVD drive is fine. I've run all sorts of diagnostics that can be done. For the life of me, I can't figure out what the issue is at all.

Re: My Computer is Broken
Dude, at this point...time to buy a whole damned computer or just build it yourself!
Re: My Computer is Broken
Ended up completely replacing everything but the case and the hard drive. Works great now.
Re: My Computer is Broken
Yikes, too bad I didn't come around sooner. The first thing to try in these cases of a BSOD is memory. If you've ran all the built in diagnostics and reverted to an earlier check point then that's usually the first fault. From there, if you can get into Safe Mode always check the Event Viewer. If its a problem with the Hard drive it will show failures there. Drive 0 failures would be the key. Just some friendly advice.

Re: My Computer is Broken
It was actually a memory issue, but not one that was readily apparent. So I had to replace everything.
